Responsible aesthetics in the real estate investment company’s office

A valuable atmosphere from the stairwell to the office

Located in the Helsinki Kolmikulma area, our long-term real estate development project, Diana, welcomed the real estate investment company Sirius, as its previous spaces had become too small due to the company’s growth. The workplace developers at Kakadu took on both the construction project commissioned by the property and the interior design for the new office space, commissioned by Sirius.

Our work in this project:

  • Strategic workplace development
  • User-centered methods
  • Workplace concepts
  • Spatial and interior design
  • Inclusive and interactive co-development
  • Spatial brand elements
  • Patterns and vinyl tapings

An office concept infused with history

The collaboration began in an atmosphere of trust. The office concept we designed for the Diana property also worked well for Sirius’s own space. The office concept was enhanced by honoring the company’s history and its journey so far: New York, where the idea for the company was originally conceived, served as the background inspiration. The goal for the new office space crystallized into creating a comfortable and cozy work environment, where a soft and valuable way of working is visible and felt.

Both parties were inspired by the property’s old, magnificent elements, which were respected and highlighted in the design of the new office space.
The unique atmosphere of the property is sensed as soon as one steps into the decorative stairwell, and this same ambiance was continued into the office area, for example, through decorative wall paintings. The changes were comprehensive, but old wooden doors and openings were left in place to allow for a return to the original layout in the future.

Passion for responsibility

The same passions and values around responsibility united all parties involved in the project: diverse recycling on site, saving spaces and elements, as well as material choices were made sustainably and almost instinctively. We were able to share our knowledge of sustainability with the contractor, Parmatic, and our client, Sirius, who were both strongly committed to the cause.

The project’s progress was ensured by a clear division of responsibilities and continuous, cheerful communication. We appreciated the quick decision-making and trust in the process. The new work environment became aesthetically stunning, radiating a balance of elegance and coziness. Kakadu was responsible for the interior design of Sirius’s new office, as well as coordinating the renovation and move. Kakadu handled the assignment professionally, and the proposed solutions were stylish and well-suited to the character of the old building. We also valued that we could choose how much we wanted to participate in the project and in what areas. In addition to the architectural vision, even the everyday coordination tasks were handled smoothly, and interior architect Riikka Forsström kept everything on track throughout the project.
