Identity and spatial concept for a new office property

Identity for an office property of the future

Our long-term client, Hartela, presented an inspiring and interesting project centered around a new development in Jätkäsaari. The comprehensive design project for the office property’s identity and spatial concept began with a collaborative workshop, following our usual approach. In this workshop session, we teamed up with the client and architect to explore the strengths of the area and property, define the property’s essence, and brainstorm initial name options.

Our work in this project:

  • Property branding
  • Interior architecture
  • Visual identity
  • Concept development, content creation and copy
  • Graphic design
  • Brochure & website
  • Brand photography
  • Participatory & interactive co-development
  • Workshop facilitation

In this assignment, the spatial and identity concept development were closely intertwined, supporting each other. Our design process also took into account the plans made by ARCO Architecture Company for the property. The project progressed on a tight schedule, relying on open communication and a collaborative approach to development.

The property name “Arna” was ultimately chosen based on its distinctive and strong character. Arna complements Hartela’s previous properties located in the Helsinki metropolitan area.
The visual identity was inspired by the future building’s architecture and its location. The graphic design reflects the angular façade line of the property’s arcade corridor, and the characteristic orange color of Jätkäsaari is combined with muted greens in the Arna identity. The brand photography evokes warmth, softness, and homeliness, which blend with an urban edge and an international atmosphere.

In addition to the identity, we also designed the visual look of Arna’s website and brochure, including spatial layouts for marketing purposes.

The office space serves as the interface of the workplace

A functional spatial concept supports the work culture now and in the future, inspiring people to return from home offices to the shared office space by offering humane and approachable solutions. A functional work environment is an important interface and strategic resource for a company, promoting organizational well-being, productivity, and innovation. It is an opportunity to develop corporate culture and work practices.

The visual design of the spatial concept was implemented based on the overall concept. The design emphasized elements that are attractive and invite users into the space, making them feel welcome.
In designing the spatial atmosphere, the building’s location in Jätkäsaari was also a contributing factor, bringing urban influences, layered styles, and a hint of an international metropolitan feel.

The marketing materials included not only brand photography but also renderings that portray the future ambiance of the spaces, based on the visual spatial concept we developed.

The result is a unique property identity and spatial concept that reflects Hartela’s sustainable and forward-looking office property development.
