A visual identity that honors local history
Welcoming service center where nostalgia and modernity go hand in hand
We designed the identity for a service center to be built at the intersection of Oulu’s Karjasilta and Höyhtyä neighborhoods for our long-time client, construction company Hartela.

Seamless collaboration
guided by careful facilitation
Our collaboration with Hartela brought the identity of Karjasillan Verstas to life in a way that summarises its uniqueness and appeals to its target audience. The project began with facilitated workshops where we heard the local experts as well as the client’s vision and goals for the identity of the site. Together, we brainstormed and discussed what kind of concept would advance the design into a cohesive and inspiring narrative that resonates with locals and makes them feel connected to the service center.
Approachable Verstas, filled with services
Scheduled for completion in summer 2025, Karjasillan Verstas is being developed with architectural restoration and respect for the area’s local history. In creating the marketing visuals for Verstas, we aimed to preserve Hartela’s recognizable design language and atmosphere. At the same time, the unique character of Karjasillan Verstas, its evolving surroundings, and its extensive range of services called for a slightly different approach.
Our designers addressed this through illustrated, sympathetic, and sketch-like urban characters. These illustrations, combined with a nostalgic logo, an architecture-inspired color palette, and playful typography, form a visual identity that is approachable and seamlessly connects to Hartela’s other properties. At the same time, it stands out as distinctively suited to the area.
We created an identity for Verstas that ties together the site’s architecture and local history, highlights the opportunities provided by its environment, and communicates its diverse services and warm atmosphere in an inviting way. We visualized the story and the look into a cohesive whole, distilling key messages that serve as the foundation for marketing materials.
The result is an identity that resonates with both customers and stakeholders through its clear, distinctive, and unified message.
