Workplace development

LähiTapiola Rahoitus

An inviting office for a growing company

Environmental values and Finnish identity as the message of the space concept

The premises of LähiTapiola Finance in Aviapolis had reached the end of their functional and capacity limits. During the expansion, which doubled the space, it was also deemed appropriate to renovate the old section. We started the project with workplace surveys, first gathering insights from management and then from the entire staff about work practices, models, and the needs of different teams. Challenges and insights brought on by the pandemic also played a crucial role in these surveys, and the results gave us a clear foundation for designing the functionality of the space: integrating remote and in-office work, acoustic solutions to ensure peace and quiet, and encouraging the sociable work community to return to the office.

Our work in this project:

  • Strategic workplace development
  • User-centered methods
  • Communication and change management
  • Workplace concepts
  • Workplace consulting
  • Spatial and interior design
  • Inclusive and interactive co-development
  • Brand in space

The green values of a Finnish company
inspired the visual design of the space

The concept’s main theme is the journey “from the woods to the city,” reflected in the color schemes of different areas, the images on glass wall decals, and the names of meeting rooms. The staff entrance opens into a relaxed lounge and kitchen area where the green hues of a spruce forest invite people to unwind with an afternoon coffee. As you move through the workspace, the field landscape transitions into turquoise hues reflected from a lake, deep blues of maritime Helsinki, and finally to the client areas, where a shiny car, symbolizing LähiTapiola Finance’s business, speeds through the streets of a nocturnal city.
Our shared green values are also present in the choice of materials and furniture. We prioritized Finnish designers and furniture suppliers, and carefully researched the production and recycling of the materials we chose; for example, PVC-free film was used for the glass wall decals. The project’s carbon footprint was reduced by reusing old furniture and surfaces rather than replacing everything.

The long and educational project, carried out in good spirits, resulted in a successful outcome that both the client and the creators can be proud of!
